Platinum Bridal Fabrics will be conducting its twice yearly sourcing trip to Paris this week, attending fabric and textile shows. Paris is a wonderful city and renown for Haute Couture Fashion and Duncan is expecting to see some wonderful fashion creations this year and is very much looking forward to his trip.

As far as colours are concerned, we are expecting to see a continuation in popularity of strong colours, such as Tango and Cerise, whilst in the pastel spectrum, many designers are forecasting a move towards soft greens (Margarita Green) and Lilacs particularly in Summer/Autumn 2012.

Within our Majestic range and Princess Range, you will see that we have an excellent shade range to offer. These fabrics are perfect for making up into Bridesmaids Dresses or Mother of the Bride.

Duncan is particularly looking to add to our already burgeoning collection of Bridal Laces, Appliqués and Lace Edgings. Trends in Bridal Fashion are constantly changing and the shows give us a good opportunity to speak to French Lace manufacturers and Couture Designers to see where the world of Wedding Dresses is heading.

This year, we will be searching for Guipure laces and Corded Laces to add to our range. Most of the laces will be bought in Ivory as this is used for over 90% of all wedding dresses but we will also be looking for qualities that introduce features of interest such as metallic filigree thread or rainbow threads. These additions will have to be subtle though, so as not to draw attention away from the Bride on her big day.

When we add a lace to our range we make sure that it brings something different to the ones already existing within our bridal lace collections. Whether it is design, handle or weight it has to offer our customers more choice and a wider selection. We also have to make sure that we only offer products that are fit for purpose and will not tear or fray too easily as we only want the highest quality.

New Laces and Fabrics are typically on a 3 month lead time but once designs are chosen, samples will be available so that pre orders can be made which means extremely exciting times ahead if you are a Bride.

We will keep you updated in the next few weeks about our findings from Paris and hopefully, fingers crossed we will come back with some amazing bridal lace and other fabric selections.
