Hot Bridal Trend #1: Wedding Dresses with Pockets
Brides and bridal designers are obviously focused on achieving the perfect aesthetic, with practicality and comfort issues often taking a back seat. But this seems to be changing as wedding dresses with pockets are becoming more and more fashionable: fashion search platform Lyst, which tracks 10m searches every month, revealed that searches for wedding gowns with pockets had jumped by a huge 83% over the past six months.
At the recent Bridal Fashion Week, many couture gowns featuring pockets appeared on the runways. Though a clearly practical addition, designers transformed pockets into design elements in their own right, embellishing them freely and making them a feature of the dress. Wedding jumpsuits, another massive trend, lend themselves perfectly to the pockets idea and so many of these sophisticated alternatives also attracted attention.
"Wedding dresses with pockets have been gaining popularity," said CEO and founder of weddingplanner.co.uk Robin Weil. "From a bride’s perspective, it’s quite a practical solution if they want to keep their phone, tissues or lipstick with them.” The hashtag #WeddingDressesWithPockets is all over social media: we found one Tweet that seemed to sum up the trend by declaring that the reader should "STOP EVERYTHING so one of my friends got married yesterday and she had POCKETS ON HER WEDDING DRESS which is just the best thing I have ever seen'.
