Get the Princess Look with Jacquard Fabric
All couture eyes were turned on the UK once again last week for another Royal Wedding. Princess Eugenie looked absolutely amazing in her wedding gown, which was created by iconic London-based fashion designers Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto.
Princess Eugenie met Pilotto and De Vos several years ago when she was co-hosting an event that focused on the work of female artists. She became an ardent fan of the brand and has in the past worn many garments they have created. The brand is known for taking an innovative and unique approach to textile design, creating clothing with a modern silhouette.
Eugenie's dress was carefully designed layer by layer and it took several fittings to get the look exactly right. First, the designers focused on the corset and underskirt, both of which were complex to tailor correctly. When this was completed, work began on creating the fitted bodice, which featured a luxurious and enchanting jacquard weave.
The neckline of the dress curved becomingly around the princess's shoulders, morphing into a low back and draping into a full-length flowing train. Motifs of thistle, ivy and rose were woven into a garland, created using a jacquard of silk, viscose blend and cotton. A full pleated skirt and tiara completed the look.
