Designed and made by Nathalie Hesnard for her Princesse Opal brand of bespoke wedding gowns and other couture pieces, this is one of the most unique, exciting and trendsetting wedding dresses we have seen this year and we predict big things for this designer in the near future.
Nathalie is known for ‘combining Parisian styles with California chic’ and has been interested in fashion design since being a child, going on to study at ESMOD in Paris before launching Princesse Opal. As well as designing bespoke bridal gowns, she also works closely with clients to create a range of party wear and theatrical costumes.
The brief for Nathalie’s latest creation was bling with elegance, something showy yet sophisticated for the wedding in California’s stunning Napa Valley. With her trademark close attention to detail, Nathalie looked at every aspect of the bride’s outfit before creating the dress, even selecting bridal lace that matched the engagement ring, which had an “antique and romantic finish”.

Roberta Wedding Lace
Exceptionally opulent, Roberta is a distinctly vintage bridal lace featuring dark ivory beads. Embellished onto a soft and delicate tulle is a dense embroidery thread which forms a series of closely-connecting floral bouquets, centering on a large, eye-catching flower. The pearls and silver sequins were perfect for adding the touch of elegant bling required for this gown, bringing sparkle and glamour with a refined and classy feel.
Chloe Bridal Lace
Chloe lace is two complementary designs in one. The coordinating floral motifs repeat throughout the body of this fine lace, decorated with beads and sequins to form one of our most attractive and alluring embellished fabrics. Chloe is a particularly feminine wedding dress material and features identical scalloped edges and a soft, delicate fringe. Completing this classic fabric is extremely fine metallic filigree thread, giving a modern twist to an antique lace design.
The overall look was dramatic and flamboyant yet exquisitely-tasteful, a matching train adding the final flourish. This dress is a serious statement piece and further improves the already-impressive reputation of Nathalie Hesnard and Princesse Opal.
