Bridal Trends for 2019: Necklines

Bridalwear trends for the upcoming season are emerging as designers have been showing off their latest creations on the haute couture catwalks. Here we look at the trends of one element of the bridal gown: the neckline.

The neckline is not always one of the first things to be considered when creating a wedding gown yet it is absolutely crucial to creating the right look. We noticed several different neckline trends emerging for 2019 and here are some of our favourites.

The Fold-Over Neckline

The diametric opposite of the 'crumbcatcher' neckline, this elegant style was almost always paired with a minimalist wedding gown. With careful, classy sculpturing, the fold-over neckline is perfect for accentuating a strapless or off-the-shoulder design; crossover varieties bring an exciting addition to gown bodices.

The Non-Basic Halterneck

Heavily influenced by the stripped-back halterneck of Meghan Markle's stunning wedding gown, these delightful styles are pure glamour. Bold cutouts pair perfectly with dramatic embellishments, creating unique, unforgettable looks.

The Asymmetric Neckline

After several seasons in the shade, the asymmetric neckline is back. One-shoulder styles are set to become the must-have look of the coming season.

Mock Necks

Mock necks were one of the most prevalent silhouettes on the catwalks. Fashion house Cushnie showcased a gown made using clean, structured material, arranged to hint at a high-rise neckline. Both Vera Wang and Laure de Sagazan included lace and chiffon to add extra layers to their neck-accentuating appearances.
