We recently received these amazing photographs of bride Zowie, who wore a bespoke dress created using our bridal lace fabric. Belinda Mahoney, the dressmaker, is a teaching assistant who would love to make wedding dresses as a full-time job - after seeing this stunning creation, we think she should go for it as she would be a huge success!
Belinda was approached by Zowie’s mother-in-law, who is a friend and colleague and had seen some of the dresses Belinda had previously designed. She agreed to create Zowie’s dress, which was based on a gown previously tried on but that had too low and too revealing a back for Zowie’s refined tastes. Belinda had purchased fabrics from us before and, after having found our service to be fast, reliable and professional, decided the experience was definitely worth repeating.
After ordering several generously-sized samples, which were quickly dispatched and received, Belinda and Zowie decided together on Victoria ivory lace. This exquisite fabric would be used over ivory satin to gorgeous, classic effect. Belinda creatively used the scalloped edges of Victoria ivory lace to finish the hem of the dress as well as painstakingly cutting out several individual floral motifs to create the edging. Determined not to waste even a centimeter of the divine wedding dress material, Belinda even made an attractive headdress from spare pieces along with creating embellishments to enhance the beauty of Zowie’s carefully-chosen shoes.
The gown was, of course, an unmitigated success and Zowie, after much proud swishing, refused to take it off after the final fitting! Husband Rob was left breathless at the beauty of his new bride, as they married in a dream wedding in Cyprus.
