A custom made wedding dress is something special - bespoke dresses differ in that they’re made to your personal specifications—from fit and shape to the fabrics and details—rather than the designer’s own vision. Kylie Lambourne's dress was even more special in that the whole process was a family affair as her own grandmother made her wedding dress to her own specifications.
From the design of the dress, the delicate Chantilly lace chosen, the satin fabric and the lace trim, Kylie was fully in control of creating the perfect dress. Kylie chose ivory Chantilly lace Katherine, an extremely feminine floaty lace that has floral bouquets running throughout the body which are embellished with cording. Her wonderful wedding dress featured long sleeves which showcased the beautiful ivory lace fabric. The fabric used to create the dress was a heavy duchess satin called Contessa, including her long train.
The wonderful cathedral length train was trimmed with the ivory lace trim, Dominique, a simple yet elegant lace trim with a delightful lustrous floral design which was a great match to Kylie's bespoke veil. The lace trim was also used around the neckline of the dress which was a deep V. "If it wasn’t for the outstanding selection of lace and fabric you have at Bridal Fabrics I never would have had my dream wedding dress."
Kylie found the process of selecting her lace straightforward. "The samples I ordered were a really good size and made choosing the fabric simple and all my orders were delivered very quickly, most arriving the next day!"
The skirt was given fullness through layers of net and tulle rather than use a hoop to create the shape. Kylie kept her grandmother busy with a wonderful wish list but together they created an elegant and romantic, wonderful wedding dress which, I'm sure you can see from these fabulous pictures, looks gorgeous.
Thank you Kylie for sharing your bespoke wedding dress journey with us.
