Lace is an openwork fabric which is usually handmade and is created by various twisting, braiding and looping of the threads with another backing thread.

What is Chantilly Lace?
Possibly the best known type of lace, Chantilly lace or Galloon Lace as it can be known, is very fine and delicate, and is made on a lightweight hexagonal mesh background. The motifs are sometimes outlined in a heavier silky thread or exhibit shading effects. Chantilly laces normally have doubled scalloped edges. Kate Lace is a good example of a type of Chantilly lace.
What is Beaded Lace?
Especially popular in the last 12 months, the type of lace is embellished with beads, crystals and sequins to produce a slightly antique look. They often have a scalloped edge. Please have a look at Madeleine Lace for a good example of one of our beaded laces which we have in stock.
What is Corded Lace?
These laces are elegant and originally were made exclusively in Northern France. Also known as Alencon lace, they are formed by outlining areas in the lace using a heavier thread or cord, giving these laces a three dimensional look. They are generally fine, light and floaty and make beautiful wedding dresses. Rachel Lace is good example of a corded lace again which we have in stock although there is a whole range available at Bridal Fabrics.
What is Guipure Lace?
This lace always has a continuous motif, which creates a denser pattern than with other laces. It is normally quite a firm feeling lace and commonly contains a floral or geometric design. One of the earliest types of lace, it is also sometimes known as Venetian Lace. Please have a look at our Emma Lace or Lucy Lace for a good example of our Guipure laces.
