Much thought and attention is given to creating the ideal wedding gown but it is also important that bridesmaids outfits are given close consideration. The bridesmaids should wear dresses that complement and accentuate the bride's gown, creating a unified overall look with individual variations. Some of the in bridesmaids outfits are exclusively revealed here by Platinum Bridal Fabrics.
Fabric choice is the first consideration. The ever-popular satin continues to be used to great effect though a strong move towards chiffon has been noticed, leading us to add the Tempest range to our constantly growing and evolving collection of wedding dress material. Tempest is 100% silk chiffon and is translucent, making it perfect for use as an overlay fabric. Extremely lightweight at just 34g per m², this elegant wedding fabric has a lustrous texture and is available in a comprehensive range of colours.
A return to clean lines and simple styles is evident in many modern bridesmaids dresses. While complementing the bride's dress in terms of fabric and colour, many bridesmaids dresses differ in style to add texture and excitement to the overall look. Slim A-lines and fishtail skirts are growing in popularity, as are long and classy ballgown dresses. The ballgown style is particularly flattering and is being used more and more as the average age of bridesmaids increases from year to year. Lace details can either blend or contrast with those of the bride's dress; differently-coloured laces can be used to stunning effect in creating beautiful gowns.
While white and ivory wedding dresses will always be popular, other colours are also gaining popularity amongst modern bridesmaids. A strong demand for Navy Blue fabric has been noticed and we have added this bold colour to our Supreme range. On the neutral spectrum, Oyster and Taupe are particular favourites while more eye-catching colours such as Cobalt and Fuchsia are also gaining favour.
Crystal embellishments add the perfect finishing touch to a gown. As these beautiful trims and motifs can be easily removed after the wedding has taken place, a dress can be worn again. This consideration is becoming more and more important as wedding organisers seek to maximise cost-effectiveness.
We are excitedly looking forward to summer and seeing what new trends will appear. As always, we will continually add updates in these news pages as well as extending our range of superior bride and groom fabrics.
