Bridal Trends for Spring 2016 - Get the Look
We may be just a few days into the autumn but, as usual, designers are already thinking about Spring 2016. If you are planning a wedding in springtime next year, then check out our must-read guide to some of the trends that have emerged from the many catwalk shows at Bridal Fashion Week and which is the best of our wedding dress material and embellished fabric to use to get the look.
Be a Blushing Bride
Colour choices for the spring season are often of the pale, pastel variety; perfect for catching the delicate light. Blush tones dominated the catwalks at Bridal Fashion Week, with everything from the very palest pink to deeper hues of soft peach.
Splendour is a divine silk satin that, with a truly regal drape and unrivalled tactile quality, is a premium choice for a very lucky bride. The wedding fabric is available in a broad palette of colour choices: try Peach, Strawberry or Blush for that bang-on-trend look this coming spring.
Chelsea Powder Pink Lace Trim is a heavily embellished fabric featuring dense and complex embroidery. An array of classic beads adds drama and excitement while the large diamanté that completes this design is pure luxury.
From the bold and striking to the subtle and refined, wedding dresses utilising feathers were another major talking-point around the catwalks. Designers such as Jenny Packham and Vera Wang made genius use of the exotic and evocative device, which drew several gasps of excitement and pleasure from audiences.
Angel is one of our most stunning designs and is based on silk georgette fabric. This has been embellished with decadent, cascading bands of extravagant feathers which, of the richest ivory colouration, create an enticing piece of couture embroidery. Another popular lace that is created with feathers is Nikita. Each motif has a series of feathers radiating from the centre, which are attached using pearls and beads.
One is Never Enough
Wedding lace of different varieties, overlaid to create unique textures, colours and designs, was big on the catwalks, with many designers creating mindblowing combinations. Our favourite was a dress that featured Chantilly lace overlying a classic embroidered tulle.
Evangeline Chantilly Lace is nothing short of spectacular and, hand-embroidered, has matching fringed edges and an intricate floral motif. Sequins and beads work together harmoniously to deliver a three-dimensional quality.
Use Evangeline Chantilly Lace over Sensation Silk Tulle, which has a firm handle that can be given a softer drape by hand-washing. Black, Ivory or White is available - how daring are you?!
