Couture on Camera — A Wonderland Wedding Dress
Gemma strikes again! The absolutely beautiful designer wedding gowns you see in these photographs were created by the uniquely-talented Gemma Sargent, who regularly uses our wedding dress fabrics in her work. It isn't just us who thinks her designs are amazing – these pictures were recently featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and drew some of the most breathless reactions when they were revealed…
Gemma Sargent owns the eponymous couture design studio (www.gemmasargent.com), which was founded in 2008 and became rapidly successful, thanks to her talent, hard work and dedication. The studio specialise in designing and making bespoke bridal wear, from the essential wedding gown to all of the accessories including veils, sashes, belts, jewellery, hairpieces and boleros. All of the garments are made painstakingly by hand in Edinburgh, where potential customers can also browse a huge range of ready-to-wear garments and fabric samples.
The couture studio employs a handful of cherry-picked staff, each member selected for their flair, experience and knowledge. All of the team are fashion and clothing graduates who have received extensive training in the many difficult and complex techniques involved with tailoring, dressmaking and corsetry. Each bride-to-be is treated on a totally individual basis, working closely with the team to create the dress of her dreams.
The photoshoot was organised and carried out by www.photographsbyeve.co.uk and many of the fabrics and trims were purchased from us. Fabrics used include:
Mimosa Beaded Lace Applique – these pairs of appliques were used throughout the bodice of the dress and also used in complementary fashion on the straps. Not to mention the delicacy and femininity of the Anna Chantilly Lace Trim, inculding the belt which features Equilibrium Crystal Appliqué.
Sarah Ivory Lace – this is one of our favorites here at Bridal Fabrics, a gorgeous corded lace that blossoms with a floral design surrounded by swirling stems and luscious leaves. Identical borders frame the lace, which is available in both White and Ivory.
