How Can I Get A Unique Wedding Look?

Coloured Lace Appliques

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dress yourself in rainbows? Don’t worry - we haven’t gone time-traveling back to the hippy dippy era of Woodstock and the Summer of Love – but we HAVE got a brand new selection of the most beautiful coloured lace appliques that are going to give your wedding gown a unique, harmonious look that hits your wedding guests like a summer breeze…

At the end of this article, we are going to transport you via the magic of technology to one of the most beautiful sights you have ever seen in your life so far. Gathered together on a single page for your viewing pleasure and convenience are all of the different colours you can choose from, each of which can be used to dye your choice of wedding lace as well. It’s a great way for more visual women to start planning their gown and your eyes are definitely in for a treat.

So many different colours all in the same place sounds messy but, just like a rainbow, it is in fact just the opposite. You will notice how the pretty complex tone of China Blue is in complete neighborly agreement with evocative Chartreuse while Violet and Red do what they can to steal the limelight. Speaking of lime, we also have a magnificent Lime Green colour choice available - this colour has been seen in big name fashion collections recently and it is amazing how well it can work with your floral arrangements…

If you’re a more classic kind of gal, then you're going to be bowled over by the regal majesty of Plum and Navy Blue, which work lovely together as well. Regular readers will recall the dress made using Russet wedding gown material that featured in a recent news article and now you can have the applique to go with it.

You will notice that the same style of lace applique is available in all of the different colours - so you must be wondering how we are going to make sure we have enough of everything to fulfil your eager orders! Well, our service involves a careful and methodical dyeing process that can take up to seven days, guaranteeing the quality of the work.

Remember our Colour Quiz from a while ago? We would love to know if your opinion has changed since then!

Which Gown Do We Want? ALL OF THEM...!

All the way from Northamptonshire in England, we are extremely excited to introduce Natalya James to our USA customers - once you see what she can do with a piece of lace - you’ll never look back! Psst -  can you guess the secret of these gorgeous gowns? All will be revealed…

Lots of couture wedding gown designers choose to buy their fabrics from us, knowing that they will get exactly the same prompt, personal attention that our private customers do - along with the biggest, best and most diverse choice of wedding dress material to boot! One of those designers is the lovely Natalya James, who recently was kind enough to take the time to send in some photographs from a recent shoot, at which a choice selection of her unique creations was showcased.

We are delighted to be able to share these photographs with you here - all of these gowns (don’t forget their sneaky secret!) use one or more of our fabrics in their making and even we, who see wedding dresses at least five days out of seven, had to do a double take at just how good these gowns are. There are too many fabrics used by Natalya for us to mention as she is always in high demand but two of our favourites from this selection are

Ivory Corded Lace - Dawn

Ivory lace just never seems to lose its popularity and when it comes to floral designs then bigger is better! Dawn lace is hand-embroidered so you know every loop is perfect and you or your lucky customer will feel like a queen when you’re wearing it. This is a fabric with a secret - its very special fringe…

Crystal Dress Trim - Cygnus

Don’t stare at Cygnus for too long or you just might get hypnotised. A serpentine, winding and fluid design that feels totally futuristic is teamed with a classic and careful selection of pearls and beads, all brought harmoniously together with silver filigree thread. You are NOT feeling sleepy…!

You’ve waited long enough - the big reveal is here! With the exception of the 1950s gown, all of the others feature a special multi-wearable underlay which stays on while the overlay is whipped off and changed for a brand new look. Natalya, we think you’re a true genius!

See more of Natalya’s Work at www.natalyajames.com or visit our gallery and find our more about the fabrics she used!

Talent to Spare – Introducing Leah Carberry

The world of bridal couture is a busy one, with lots of new designers appearing all the time. For the most part, these designers are unremarkable but now and again one turns up that makes you sit up and take notice. One of these designers is the talented Leah Carberry who, though fresh out of college, is already making a big name for herself on the bridal scene. With this stunner of a dress pictured here, it isn’t hard to see why….

Leah Carberry completed a long, difficult course in Fashion Technology, which she passed with flying colours (probably white and ivory!) and, not wasting any time, started up her own business immediately after. As well as the bridal wear with which she is already turning heads, she specialises in creating bespoke eveningwear and has also made Communion garments for kids. Each client is treated on an individual basis and she makes sure that their ideas are fully realised, adding her own signature edge to the finished result.

Creating the gown shown in the photos here was a true labour of love and the result is indistinguishable from that of a professional designer with years of experience in the trade. She wanted to create something with traditional elegance and modern freshness combined, a mission that we think you will agree she succeeded with entirely. Combining the lovely mermaid shape with a daring low cut twist was the perfect solution and the silk organza train lifted it beyond mere clothing and into the realms of couture art.

Sublime heavy crepe satin was used along with Evolution organza in white to create the body of the dress, which was then enhanced with White Beaded Lace - Mallory.

This is an unusual lace featuring a clever combination of ivory pearls and clear beads which, together, form a tightly-woven design. Very tactile and feminine, the lace is an extra-special choice and perfectly suits Leah’s style.

Thanks so much, Leah, for sending in your photo and story - we can see that you are going to be a big name on the couture scene and we look forward to saying ‘we knew her before she was famous!’

If you are a budding bridal designer then why not send us your photos and stories? We love to see what is done with our fabrics once they have left our HQ so email us today!

Thinking of Designing Your Own Wedding Gown?

bride Caroline YateThere is so much to organise when you're planning a wedding so it seems like the last thing you would want to do is give yourself MORE work! But the effort can pay off big time and that's what happened to bride Caroline Yates when she decided that making her own wedding gown was the only way that she was going to get exactly what she wanted. How did she achieve her goal? With style, precision and panache!

Caroline checked out all the sites she could find to buy her wedding dress material from and, according to her email, we beat everyone else 'hands-down'! That's good to know and we're glad it's that way - we will keep on doing everything in our power to make sure you have access to the widest range of wedding fabrics at the very best possible price. It was a difficult decision, as it is for every bride, but Caroline created a shortlist and started ordering samples, which we quickly sent out for her to enjoy.

After an agonising but exciting time spent experiencing her samples, Caroline finally set her heart on Duchess Satin, leaving only the lace left to choose. This was even tougher but the lace that she kept returning to was Dionne, swayed by the gorgeous and unique arrangement of floral designs and the feminine matching scalloped edges.

As you can see from these amazing photos, Caroline chose to have three-quarter length sleeves on her magical dream dress. This was an inspired decision as the look is very much in vogue at the moment among fashionistas and haute couture wedding designers. She sashayed down the aisle and kept the entire crowd breathless as the materials swished and swayed around her, combining perfectly to give her an ethereal beauty and charm that will never, ever be forgotten by anyone that saw her.

We love seeing what our customers can create using our fabrics and we add all your pictures to the online gallery, which you can check out right now! Allow yourself to be inspired - choose Bridal Fabrics for everything you need to create the fairytale wedding you have always dreamed about. We will leave the Happily Ever After bit up to you! Be beautiful, be blissful - be Bridal Fabrics.
